The Riverside
The Riverside
You once held me, down by the riverside
Your love was mine to hold; my soul complete
My aching heart foolishly open wide
Captivated by romance bittersweet
Faint ripples of your love toyed with my heart
Created by the tears that stain my face
Rivers of passion; dry now we're apart
I'm haunted by the ghost of your embrace
Faded memories. Pictures. Forgotten.
Black and white; sweet dreams from another life
A time long gone, abandoned and rotten
Our love is dead; a victim to our strife
Once you held me, down by the riverside
Your love fell from my reach; and my heart died.
